Meta’s Muse AI agent posts strong early numbers as investors demand proof
Millions of downloads and 1.8 million daily users give Meta an early answer to questions about whether people actually want its AI agent
Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026. The pitch is an assistant that handles actual chores, not just conversation.
Muse can send emails, book travel, fill out forms, research topics and make online purchases. It works across connected apps and websites, with integrations that include Gmail, Spotify and Shopify.
Early adoption came quickly. Muse reportedly pulled in between 2.5 million and 3.4 million downloads in its first two weeks.
By early October, downloads had passed 6.6 million, according to Sensor Tower. The same data showed 1.8 million daily active users.
Muse is available in the US through iOS, Android, muse.ai and WhatsApp. Users can choose a free tier or paid subscriptions priced at $20 and $100 per month.
The tech under the hood
Muse runs on Muse Spark, Meta’s in-house model. The current version, Muse Spark 1.3, is tuned for sustained, multi-step workflows.

Tasks run inside what Meta calls the Muse Secure VM. A virtual machine is essentially a sealed-off computer within a computer, so the agent’s activity stays isolated from everything else.
Sensitive actions go through a separate approval process. If Muse wants to spend your money or touch something important, it is designed to check with you first.
Users also get controls over permissions. Meta has said it plans to introduce Confidential VMs, along with an option to opt out of having data used for training.
A steady stream of updates
Meta has kept adding features since launch. Muse now includes a real-time avatar, giving the assistant a visual presence during interactions.
An iPad app arrived on October 7, 2026. The company has also been connecting Muse to additional retail partners, a rollout that is happening alongside ongoing security reviews.
