Nebius installs first Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack in Finland, signaling next wave of AI infrastructure spending

The AI cloud provider's latest deployment in Mäntsälä highlights the massive capital flowing into GPU-powered data centers, a trend reshaping how crypto miners and AI firms compete for power and chips.

Nebius, the NASDAQ-listed AI cloud provider, completed and tested its first Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack at its data center in Mäntsälä, Finland on July 23. The rack packs 72 Rubin GPUs and 36 Vera CPUs alongside newly installed Nvidia Spectrum-6 switches, making it one of the earliest deployments of Nvidia’s next-generation AI supercomputer platform anywhere in the world.

What Nebius actually built

The Vera Rubin NVL72 platform claims up to 10x throughput per watt compared to its predecessors.

Nebius deployed Europe’s first GB300 NVL72 rack at the same Finnish facility back in December 2025. Now it’s layering the Vera Rubin architecture on top, with plans to offer the platform through its AI Cloud and Token Factory services starting in the second half of 2026.

The company holds the designation of Reference Platform Nvidia Cloud Partner.

Nebius has construction underway on a new 310 MW AI factory in Lappeenranta, another Finnish city, designed to optimize deployments using both Blackwell and Vera Rubin architectures. The company’s stated goal is to scale to over 5 GW of Nvidia capacity by 2030.

The money behind the machines

Nvidia itself committed $2 billion to Nebius, announced in March 2026. Nebius also signed a five-year, $27 billion AI infrastructure agreement with Meta to advance Vera Rubin deployments.

Vera Rubin entered full production around June 2026, meaning the technology itself is barely weeks old. Nebius getting a rack stood up, tested, and validated within a month of production speaks to the tight coordination between the two companies.

Why crypto investors should care

There are no direct crypto asset deployments associated with Nebius. The company is squarely focused on AI cloud services.

This dynamic is already playing out in the US, where several publicly traded Bitcoin miners, including Core Scientific and Applied Digital, have pivoted partially or fully toward AI hosting.

Nebius’s Token Factory service, through which it plans to offer Vera Rubin access, shares naming conventions with crypto but appears focused on AI inference and training tokenization, not blockchain tokens.
