The Nasdaq-listed firm, valued at about $8 million, cited exchange security and quantum computing risks in authorizing sales or loans against its 5,833 BTC
A Nasdaq-listed company valued at roughly $8 million says it may part with Bitcoin worth about $450 million. That is a stock trading for a sliver of the coins it claims to hold.
Next Technology Holding Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTT) says its board has authorized selling or borrowing against its entire stash of 5,833 BTC. The trigger was the security breach at Binance, which pushed the board to rethink the risks of holding crypto at all.
What the board approved
According to the deep research findings, the board approval took effect on October 30, 2026. It came one day after Binance reported a hot wallet incident on October 29 that compromised approximately $6.3 billion.
A hot wallet is the exchange equivalent of a cash register. It stays connected to the internet for fast withdrawals, which also makes it the most tempting target in the building.
Binance linked the incident to North Korean actors. Approximately $3 billion of the stolen assets have reportedly been frozen through cooperation with issuers and partners.
NXTT’s resolution covers two paths. The company can sell the Bitcoin outright, or it can pledge the coins as collateral for loans.
The board handed the CEO authority over timing and method. The stated goals are to reduce market exposure and improve liquidity.
The holdings are valued at approximately $450-480 million, depending on the Bitcoin price used. The company’s market capitalization sits at roughly $7-8 million.
The Binance question, and the custody question
NXTT says none of its Bitcoin is held through Binance. So the exchange breach did not directly touch its coins, at least by the company’s account.

The board instead pointed to broader worries about exchange security. It also cited quantum computing, a longer-range concern for anyone holding digital assets.
The more pressing issue for investors may be verification. NXTT’s filings do not name its institutional custodians, and they provide no wallet addresses that would let outsiders confirm the coins on-chain.
Without that disclosure, shareholders are working on trust. Telling investors your coins are safe while declining to show where they sit is a bit like a magician insisting the rabbit is definitely in the hat.
How NXTT built the position
The company first disclosed Bitcoin purchases in 2023. It then ramped up its holdings significantly through 2024 and 2025, funding the buys through capital raises.
Per the research findings, NXTT acquired its 5,833 BTC at an average cost basis of approximately $30,000 to $31,386 per coin. That puts the total outlay at around $175-183 million.
If those figures hold, the position carries a large paper gain against its current valuation of approximately $450-480 million. Selling would lock in that gain rather than leaving it exposed to price swings.
NXTT has not bought additional Bitcoin since mid-2025. So the stash has been sitting static for some time before this week’s decision.
What this means
For NXTT shareholders, the central puzzle is the valuation gap. The market is pricing the company at a tiny fraction of the Bitcoin it reports owning.
The lack of custodian names and wallet addresses likely feeds that skepticism. If NXTT sells or borrows against the coins, investors will want to see where the proceeds go.
For the Bitcoin market, a 5,833 BTC sale is meaningful but not enormous. The CEO controls timing and method, so a staggered sale or a loan structure could soften any impact.
The pledge option deserves attention too. Borrowing against Bitcoin keeps the coins on the books but adds leverage, which introduces liquidation risk if prices fall sharply.
