Oracle co-CEO Clay Magouyrk shares the stage with Sam Altman at Oracle AI World
The joint appearance came as Oracle expanded its OpenAI partnership to bring ChatGPT and Codex into its enterprise software
Oracle co-CEO Clay Magouyrk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman appeared together on October 27 at Oracle AI World 2026 in Las Vegas. Their joint session started at 12:40 p.m. ET, a few hours after Magouyrk wrapped a solo keynote.
The pairing was not a courtesy booking. Oracle used the conference to announce a wider partnership with OpenAI, one that plants ChatGPT and Codex inside Oracle’s enterprise applications and databases.
What Oracle and OpenAI announced
Oracle AI World ran from October 25 to 28. Magouyrk took the main stage at 9:00 a.m. on October 27 to lay out how AI could be applied across development, data security, and infrastructure.
The headline business news was the expanded deal. Under the new arrangement, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Codex will be integrated into Oracle’s business applications and its database products.
Oracle is also upgrading the hardware side of its cloud. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or OCI, is adding support for Google TPUs, OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip, and Cerebras systems.
Oracle is pitching the integrations at sectors such as healthcare and finance. The stated aim is better operational efficiency, without forcing businesses to rip out and rebuild their existing systems.
OpenAI president Greg Brockman said the partnership is meant to bring frontier AI into everyday business operations.

A new leadership setup with an AI mandate
Magouyrk’s prominence at the event reflects a leadership reshuffle at Oracle. In September 2025, the company moved to a dual-CEO structure, naming Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia to share the top job.
The split is fairly clean. Magouyrk, appointed at age 39, oversees cloud infrastructure. Sicilia runs applications and industry solutions.
Magouyrk joined Oracle in 2014 and led the growth of OCI. Under his watch, the cloud business has expanded to more than 100 public regions.
The relationship between the two companies predates this week. According to the research findings, OpenAI has previously used OCI to train large AI models, including GPT-6 Astra.
What this means for Oracle, OpenAI, and enterprise buyers
The multi-chip approach on OCI is worth watching. Supporting Google TPUs, OpenAI’s Jalapeño, and Cerebras systems side by side signals that Oracle wants to be a neutral venue for different kinds of AI hardware.
Healthcare and finance were singled out as target sectors. Both industries handle sensitive data and operate under heavy oversight, which makes the data security themes from Magouyrk’s keynote especially relevant.
The next things to watch are rollout timelines for the ChatGPT and Codex integrations, which customers adopt them first, and how quickly the new chip options become available across OCI’s more than 100 public regions.
