Kraken parent Payward taps Broadridge to bring proxy voting to xStocks
Eligible holders of supported tokenized securities will be able to review corporate materials and submit voting preferences through Broadridge’s ProxyVote platform.
xStocks is a tokenized securities framework developed by Payward Services, the business infrastructure division of Payward, which also operates Kraken. The platform issues fully collateralized tokens backed one to one by publicly listed equities and other securities.
The partnership is intended to bring governance functions commonly available in traditional markets to blockchain based investment products.
Investors using supported xStocks will receive digital shareholder communications and access to proxy materials through Broadridge’s existing governance infrastructure. The system will also provide institutional reporting, auditability, and a consistent voting experience across traditional and tokenized securities.
Payward Chief Commercial Officer Mark Greenberg said tokenized markets should provide investors with more than faster trading and digital settlement, including opportunities to participate in decisions involving the companies represented by their assets.
Broadridge said investors should not have to choose between blockchain based market infrastructure and access to shareholder governance.
The companies did not specify which xStocks will initially support the new voting features or when the service will become available to all eligible holders.
Payward Services currently offers more than 500 tokenized assets across equities, exchange traded funds, and pre IPO offerings. It also plans to add tokenized equities from international markets, including the UK, Europe, and Asia.
xStocks launched in June 2025 and has since processed billions of dollars in transaction volume across several blockchain networks. The tokens can move between centralized exchanges, self custody wallets, and onchain applications, allowing them to be used for trading, collateral, and decentralized finance services.
The governance integration adds another function to the framework by connecting blockchain based ownership records with Broadridge’s traditional shareholder communications network.
Broadridge said its governance platform supports several tokenization structures, including issuer sponsored securities, synthetic securities issued outside the United States, and third party tokenized shares offered within the United States.
The company has continued to expand its digital asset infrastructure alongside its traditional market services. Its Distributed Ledger Repo platform processes more than $357 billion in tokenized real asset transactions each day.
Broadridge technology supports more than 8 billion investor communications annually and underpins average daily trading of more than $18 trillion across traditional and tokenized securities.
