Rangers sign winger Kim Min-su from Girona for undisclosed fee

Rangers have completed the signing of South Korean winger Minsu Kim from La Liga side Girona, paying a reported £8.5M fee that aligns with the player’s release clause. The 20-year-old arrives at Ibrox on a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, becoming the club’s 12th acquisition of what has been a busy summer transfer window under manager Derek McInnes.

Kim could make his debut as early as August 30, when Rangers face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. The transfer window doesn’t close until September 3.

From Gwangju to Glasgow via Girona

Born on January 19, 2006, in Gwangju, South Korea, Kim moved to Spain at a young age, signing with Girona in 2022 after starting with lower-tier clubs including Mercantil and CF Damm. He worked his way through Girona’s academy before earning a La Liga debut in October 2024, when he was just 18, and also made an appearance in the UEFA Champions League. He managed only eight senior appearances for the club.

The solution was a loan move to FC Andorra for the 2025/26 season. In 40 appearances for Andorra, the winger registered 6 goals and 4 assists. That consistent output triggered a release clause set at approximately €10M, and Rangers moved to activate it.

Kim is capable of operating on either wing or in an attacking midfield role.

McInnes builds his squad

The Kim signing is the latest in a summer-long recruitment drive that has seen Rangers make 12 signings in a single window. The £8.5M fee, if accurate, would represent a meaningful outlay for a Scottish club. Rangers also moved swiftly after failing to secure another transfer target, making Kim a priority acquisition.
