Recall Foundation plans to burn 358.6M RECALL tokens as it winds down
The AI agent project will shut down and liquidate, and token holders will receive no compensation, distributions, or buybacks
The Recall Foundation is shutting down. It plans to burn approximately 358,562,442 RECALL tokens on the way out.
Token holders, meanwhile, will receive nothing. No compensation, no distributions, no buybacks. For a project barely a year past its token launch, that is a brutal epitaph.
The Foundation announced the decision on October 30, 2026. It will liquidate alongside its development subsidiary, Recall Labs.
The stated reasons are rapid changes in the AI landscape and a conclusion that the product directions it tested were no longer viable.
What the wind-down looks like
The burn covers 35.86% of RECALL’s total supply of 1 billion tokens. The tokens will be sent to a dead address, a wallet nobody can access, which removes them from circulation permanently.
Staked tokens are exempt from the burn. Once it is complete, total supply is estimated to fall to 641.4 million RECALL.
Timing matters here. The burn is expected to happen immediately before final liquidation, which the Foundation projects for Q1 2027.
The broader schedule runs in stages. Recall Labs, the subsidiary, is projected to liquidate around December 2026. The Foundation itself is expected to follow around January 2027.

Before any of that, the Recall Network app will switch to a read-only state on November 30, 2026. After that date, new competitions and rewards will stop.
Where the money goes
The Foundation holds an estimated $3.7 million in stablecoins and fiat. That sum is earmarked for creditors and wind-down costs.
Remaining funds are expected to reach zero once debts are paid. Nothing, in other words, trickles down to the people holding the token.
A short life for an AI agent project
Recall’s pitch was ambitious. It set out to build decentralized infrastructure for evaluating and ranking autonomous AI agents through on-chain competitions.
The project launched a public testnet in March 2025. Its token followed on October 15, 2025, as an ERC-20 on Base, built to support what it called AI skill markets.
The wind-down announcement came just over a year after that launch.
What this means for holders and the AI token sector
For RECALL holders, the practical picture is stark. The Foundation has said there will be no payouts, and the network’s core activity ends on November 30, 2026.
Anyone holding staked tokens keeps them outside the burn. That exemption, however, does not come with any added claim on the Foundation’s assets.
The key dates ahead are clear. The app goes read-only on November 30, 2026, the subsidiary and Foundation liquidations are projected for around December 2026 and January 2027, and the burn is expected just before final liquidation in Q1 2027.
