Bologna FC 1909 has locked in Domenico Tedesco as the club’s new head coach, signing the German-Italian tactician to a deal that runs until June 30, 2028, with an option for an additional year. His tenure officially begins on July 1, 2026.

The appointment marks a significant pivot for a club that just enjoyed one of its most successful domestic campaigns in recent memory. Tedesco replaces Vincenzo Italiano, who guided Bologna to the 2024/25 Coppa Italia title.

From Istanbul to Bologna

Tedesco, born in 1985, arrives with a resume that reads like a European coaching tour. Most recently, he managed Fenerbahçe in Turkey, where he finished second in the Süper Lig and won the Turkish Super Cup. Before that, he served as head coach of the Belgian national team. His earlier career included notable stints at Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig, as well as a spell at Spartak Moscow.

Tedesco was born in Italy to Calabrian parents before his family moved to Germany. While this technically represents a return to his roots, he has never managed in Serie A.
