About Kamino
Kamino Finance is a decentralized finance protocol on the Solana blockchain that offers lending, borrowing, liquidity provision, and leverage tools for on-chain assets. It runs as a smart-contract application on Solana, using Solana's proof-of-stake consensus rather than operating its own separate blockchain. Users can earn yield and manage leverage on Solana assets by supplying and borrowing through Kamino's markets and depositing into automated liquidity vaults. The native token, KMNO, launched through a genesis token generation event and airdrop on 30 April 2024. Approximately 10 percent of the total supply, around 1 billion tokens, entered circulation at launch. KMNO is a governance and utility token used to vote on protocol upgrades, risk parameters, and resource allocation. Planned uses include fee discounts and staking rewards. KMNO has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion tokens, distributed over time according to a predefined emission schedule weighted toward community incentives like liquidity mining, with smaller allocations going to the team, investors, and ecosystem grants. The token is how Kamino's lending and liquidity markets are governed and incentivized on Solana.
