Telegram rolls out Gram Wallet to select users ahead of wider launch
The company plans to gradually extend access to its billion-plus users over the next couple of weeks.
Telegram has begun rolling out Gram Wallet to a select group of users, with the non-custodial wallet set to reach its billion-plus user base over the next few weeks, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced Monday. Gram surged about 9% to almost $1.45 after the announcement.
Durov said validators have approved the smart contract powering the wallet, meaning future upgrades will not require users to migrate to new wallet contracts. The company highlighted the feature as one of several changes aimed at making non-custodial wallets more user-friendly.
The rollout comes a few weeks after Durov announced Telegram’s plans for a non-custodial Gram wallet across all its apps this summer. The wallet would enable instant, zero-fee crypto transactions, according to Durov, who called the rollout the largest non-custodial crypto wallet launch in history.
The move underscores Telegram’s continued push to integrate crypto and blockchain services into its messaging platform.

The launch could become part of Durov’s “Make TON Great Again” (MTONGA) strategy, though the Telegram founder has not explicitly linked the wallet to the roadmap. The rebranding of Toncoin to Gram recently marked step four of the seven-step plan.
