Amazon, Tesla and SpaceX join 56 companies opposing OKXICE tokenized stock plans

The latest objections bring the total to 56 companies, with nearly 80% of the venture's initial stock selection opting out.

Amazon, Tesla and SpaceX have joined a growing list of companies objecting to having their shares traded on OKXICE, the tokenized stock venture backed by crypto exchange OKX and New York Stock Exchange parent Intercontinental Exchange.

The latest public notice, dated November 2, added six companies to the objection list, bringing the total to 56 from 50 in the previous disclosure. Netflix, SoFi Technologies and Lam Research were the other three additions.

Of the 62 companies initially selected for trading, 49 have now objected, representing approximately 79% of the original lineup. The remaining seven objections came from companies outside that initial selection, according to CoinDesk.

The latest additions follow objections from Nvidia, Microsoft, Alphabet, JPMorgan, Walmart and Goldman Sachs, among other major US companies.

OKXICE faces growing opposition ahead of deadline

OKXICE plans to offer continuous trading of tokenized US stocks through automated liquidity pools on OKX’s XLayer blockchain, with transactions settled using stablecoins.

The venture operates under a temporary SEC exemption that allows qualifying platforms to offer tokenized securities without registering as traditional securities exchanges, subject to specific conditions.

Under the framework, issuers have 30 calendar days after receiving notice to object to their shares being traded through unaffiliated tokenization arrangements. The deadline falls on November 3 for companies notified on October 4, although individual deadlines may vary.

Apple, Strategy, Robinhood, Coinbase, Circle and Palantir are among 13 companies from the original selection without disclosed objections. Their absence from the list does not establish that they have endorsed the venture.

OKXICE has not announced a launch date or confirmed which securities will be available when trading begins.

The objections apply specifically to the proposed trading arrangements on OKXICE and do not necessarily represent broader opposition to stock tokenization.
