White House releases national security science and technology strategy
The strategy prioritizes focused, resilient, agile and secure technology development to support U.S. national security goals.
The White House has released a National Security Science and Technology Strategy outlining how the United States will use federally funded research and innovation to support national security objectives.
The strategy, published to support the 2025 National Security Strategy, focuses on competition in military capabilities, homeland defense and resilience, and other areas where science and technology intersect with security.
It identifies advanced technology development, supply-chain disruption, intellectual-property theft and the rapid convergence of emerging technologies as major challenges. The document also says U.S. policy must protect sensitive technology while preserving rights and avoiding unnecessary barriers to innovation.
The strategy calls for a focused, resilient, agile and secure national technology posture. Federal agencies are directed to build the science and technology workforce, improve research infrastructure, target research funding, expand private-sector partnerships and use the capabilities of allies and partners.
