US removes Syria from State Sponsors of Terrorism list
The State Department said the move lifts restrictions on US aid, defense exports and certain financial transactions.
The US State Department on Monday removed Syria from its list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, according to a notification from the US Treasury. The move follows an earlier announcement that was subject to congressional review.
The designation had restricted US foreign assistance, defense exports and certain financial transactions involving Syria.
The announcement also removed the Nusrah Front from the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorist organizations, Reuters reported.
