Venice Token soars nearly 1,800% this year amid growing interest in AI-crypto convergence
Erik Voorhees' privacy-focused AI platform has quietly built one of crypto's most compelling token utility models, and investors are taking notice.
Venice Token (VVV) has gone from relative obscurity to one of the best-performing crypto assets of 2026, climbing from roughly $0.92 in December 2025 to an all-time high of $34.51 on September 21. That’s a gain of over 3,700% from its lows, putting it among the top three AI-focused tokens in the crypto market by capitalization.
The token, which powers Erik Voorhees’ privacy-driven generative AI platform Venice AI, currently trades in the $30-32 range with a market cap hovering around $1.5-1.6 billion. Only Near and TAO sit ahead of it in the AI-crypto rankings.
What actually makes VVV tick
Staking VVV gives holders proportional access to Venice AI’s API inference capacity at zero marginal cost per request. The more tokens you stake, the more AI processing power you can tap into without paying per query.
In August 2025, the platform introduced a secondary token called DIEM, which stakers can mint by locking their VVV. Each DIEM provides $1 worth of perpetual daily AI credits.
VVV launched with a genesis supply of 100 million tokens on the Base blockchain on January 27, 2025, with half airdropped to users and projects. Since then, aggressive buyback strategies and token burns have removed over 40% of the supply. Emissions are on track to decline from 14 million tokens at launch to an expected 2 million annually.

The numbers behind the hype
Venice AI’s operational metrics tell a story that goes well beyond token price appreciation. The platform now serves more than 4 million users and processes approximately 250 billion tokens daily. Its annualized revenue run-rate exceeds $100 million.
In July 2026, Venice AI closed a $65 million Series A funding round led by Dragonfly, with participation from Coinbase Ventures. The round valued the company at $1 billion. Investors received equity alongside vesting VVV grants and additional warrants.
Voorhees’ second act
Erik Voorhees built ShapeShift, one of the earliest crypto exchanges, and has been a vocal advocate for privacy and decentralization for over a decade. Venice AI represents his bet that privacy-preserving AI will become a massive market as users grow increasingly uncomfortable with how Big Tech handles their data and prompts.
The pitch is straightforward: use generative AI without your queries being logged, sold, or used to train future models. Four million users suggest the market for private AI isn’t just a philosophical preference. It’s a product category.
