World Liberty delays Maldives resort token amid Iran war

The planned token would give investors revenue from loans financing a Trump-branded luxury resort.

World Liberty Financial and its partners have delayed a digital token tied to a Trump-branded resort in the Maldives.

The token was scheduled to go on sale this spring. Its launch was postponed as the war with Iran disrupted travel across the region, according to people familiar with the matter.

No new launch date has been announced.

The token would give investors a share of revenue from loans financing the resort. It was designed as an early example of World Liberty’s plan to bring real-world assets onto blockchains.

UK-based Dar Global is developing the project. The unfinished resort is expected to include about 80 luxury beach and over-water villas.

World Liberty previously said investors would receive a fixed yield and a stream of loan revenue.

The company has explored tokens linked to real estate, investment funds, oil and gold as part of a broader real-world asset strategy.

Dar Global said it continues to advance its partnership with the Trump Organization while reviewing project schedules against market and regulatory conditions.

World Liberty declined to comment. The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
