The cross-chain messaging protocol is lining up connectivity for Kinetiq's HyperEVM-linked Layer 2 ahead of its November 9 debut

Wormhole has teamed up with Elysium, an EVM-compatible Layer 2 network built by Kinetiq and connected to HyperEVM.

The partnership was announced on November 5, 2026. Elysium’s mainnet is scheduled to go live on November 9, 2026.

Elysium framed the deal as support for a multi-chain future.

What the deal actually covers

The partnership did not appear out of nowhere. Wormhole added support for the Elysium mainnet in its v2.69.0 release on October 22, 2026.

In other words, the plumbing was laid roughly two weeks before the public announcement. The formal partnership news simply confirmed what the software release had already set in motion.

Through the integration, Elysium gets access to cross-chain messaging and asset transfers via Wormhole’s infrastructure.

Wormhole brings track record to the table. The protocol has historically processed billions in cross-chain volume.

That history is expected to help bolster Elysium’s ecosystem by supporting liquidity and enabling smoother cross-chain transactions.

Elysium’s bet on DeFi and memecoins

Elysium’s stated focus is driving activity in decentralized finance and memecoin launches.

Gas on Elysium is denominated in the HYPE token. So anyone transacting on the network will need HYPE to cover those costs.

Being EVM-compatible means developers can bring familiar tools and code over without starting from scratch.

During its testnet phase, Elysium attracted multiple launchpads and decentralized exchange activity.

What this means for Wormhole, Elysium, and builders

Immediate market reaction to the partnership has been muted, reflecting its infrastructure focus rather than immediate trading implications.

The partnership could lead to increased liquidity and transaction volume across both platforms, particularly if Elysium succeeds in capturing DeFi and memecoin activity.

Because Elysium denominates gas in HYPE, any meaningful growth in network activity would translate into more demand for HYPE as a fee token on that chain.

The next checkpoint is November 9, 2026, when Elysium’s mainnet goes live and the Wormhole integration moves from release notes to real-world use.
