Alphabet reportedly discloses $548 million Qualcomm stake in 13F filing

A post on X says Google's parent reported about 3 million Qualcomm shares, though its prior quarterly filing listed none

Alphabet may have picked up a piece of one of the chip world’s most recognizable names.

According to a post on X, Google’s parent company reported holding about 3 million Qualcomm shares worth $548 million in its latest 13F filing.

What the filing reportedly shows

The reported position is straightforward: roughly 3 million shares of Qualcomm, valued at $548 million.

For the quarter ending June 30, 2026, Alphabet submitted its 13F on August 7, 2026. That document listed 28 positions with a combined value of approximately $99.08 billion.

Qualcomm was not among them. The research reviewed for this article found no Qualcomm shares in the Q2 2026 filing or in contemporaneous reports as of November 2026.

The August filing was dominated by a single name. Space Exploration Technologies Corp., better known as SpaceX, made up nearly 95% of the reported holdings.

The remaining positions included companies such as Planet Labs and Arm Holdings.

Timing matters here. Institutional managers have 45 days after each quarter ends to file their 13Fs, which means filings covering the period through September 30, 2026 were not yet due in early November.

Put simply, a position built after June 30 would not appear in the August document. It would only surface once the next quarterly report landed.

There is one more wrinkle worth flagging. The only previously available data linking the two companies ran the other way: Qualcomm’s holdings page indicates that Qualcomm owns Alphabet Class C shares, not the reverse.

What a 13F actually tells you

The SEC requires the form from institutional investment managers overseeing more than $100 million in assets. It covers US equity holdings, which is why a company like Alphabet, with its sprawling corporate investments, has to file one at all.

Alphabet’s filings have historically shown modest equity holdings relative to the company’s significant cash reserves.

That makes the SpaceX concentration all the more striking. A company famous for search ended up with a disclosed equity portfolio where one private space firm accounts for nearly 95% of the value.

What this means for investors watching Alphabet

Until the reported Qualcomm position is matched against the underlying filing, investors should treat it with some caution. The most recent filing that has been reviewed does not include it, and the next quarterly report was still inside its filing window in early November.

If the stake does check out, its size is worth putting in perspective. A $548 million position would be a small slice next to a portfolio previously valued at approximately $99.08 billion, most of which sits in SpaceX.

A Qualcomm position would sit alongside Arm Holdings, giving Alphabet exposure to two companies central to how mobile and edge devices are designed and powered.

A large holder that discloses a 13F reveals the what, never the why.

The immediate thing to watch is the filing covering the quarter ended September 30, 2026. That document should settle whether the Qualcomm shares are there, how many there are, and what else has changed since August.

And for anyone tempted to trade on a single social media post about an institutional filing, the reverse ownership on Qualcomm’s own books offers a useful reminder. In 13F land, it pays to confirm which direction the shares are actually flowing before drawing conclusions.
