Base accepts applications for Batches 004
Coinbase's layer 2 accelerator program offers $100K investments and mentorship to early-stage teams building on Base
Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 network run by Coinbase, is accepting applications for the fourth cohort of its startup accelerator. Base Batches 004 opened for submissions on August 19 and will close on September 9 at 11:59 p.m. PST, giving early-stage crypto builders a narrow window to pitch their projects for a shot at funding and structured mentorship.
Selected teams, roughly 10 per cohort, will receive a $100K investment from the Base Ecosystem Fund. They’ll also get an eight-week virtual program capped off by a Demo Day in New York on November 17.
What Base Batches actually offers
The accelerator targets founders who are building Base-first. That means teams whose primary development efforts are anchored to Coinbase’s L2, not projects that treat Base as one of a dozen chains they might eventually deploy on.
Ideal applicants sit somewhere between the “we have a pitch deck and a dream” stage and post-MVP, the point where you’ve got a working prototype but haven’t closed a formal seed round yet. Think pre-seed or earlier.
The sectors Base is most interested in tell you where Coinbase sees the L2’s future: trading, payments, and asset issuance.

How to apply, and one notable quirk
The application process requires both written and video submissions. Founders need to articulate their vision in text and then put a face and voice to it on camera.
One detail worth flagging: the application portal does not include a draft-saving feature. If you start filling it out and close the tab, your progress vanishes. The practical advice is the same: write your answers in a separate document before you touch the application form.
Base Batches in context
The accelerator launched in 2025 and runs twice per year, making Batch 004 the fourth cohort in roughly 18 months of operation.
