Besiktas targets Alexander Nübel as new goalkeeper, talks ongoing
The Turkish club is pursuing Bayern Munich's German keeper, but a price tag above €10 million and the player's own hesitations could complicate things
Besiktas has set its sights on Alexander Nübel, Bayern Munich’s 29-year-old German goalkeeper, as the club’s top target between the posts for next season. Talks between the Turkish giants and both Nübel’s camp and Bayern are underway, though this one is far from a done deal.
Bayern Munich is reportedly seeking a transfer fee north of €10 million for Nübel.
The goalkeeper in question
Nübel has spent the last three seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart, where he’s been one of the Bundesliga’s more consistent performers.
During the 2025-26 season, Nübel made 34 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart. He recorded 11 clean sheets across those matches.
His contract with Bayern Munich runs through 2029.
Nübel isn’t exactly racing to Istanbul. Reports suggest he’s weighing multiple options and isn’t prioritizing a move to Turkey at this stage.
Why this transfer is complicated
Three-way negotiations are always messy. You need the selling club to agree on a fee, the buying club to meet that fee, and the player to actually want to go. Right now, Besiktas appears to have alignment on only one of those three factors: their own interest.
Bayern’s €10 million-plus asking price sets a floor that Besiktas will need to reach. And that’s just the transfer fee. Wages for a Bundesliga-level German international would add considerably to the total cost of the deal.
For Nübel, a move to Turkey would take him out of one of Europe’s top five leagues. At 29, he’s entering what should be his peak years. Stuttgart gave him consistent playing time and high-level competition.
