Coinbase and Webull expand partnership to enhance crypto trading across 25 million users

Webull is swapping out its old crypto infrastructure for Coinbase's full-stack platform, bringing spot trading, custody, staking, and futures to its global user base.

Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform is now powering crypto trading across Webull’s entire ecosystem, a partnership expansion that puts regulated digital asset access in front of 25 million users worldwide. The collaboration replaces Webull’s prior relationship with Bakkt, marking a significant infrastructure upgrade for the discount brokerage.

The integration, which began rolling out in June 2025, has already expanded Webull’s crypto offerings from a limited selection to approximately 101 supported tokens. The roadmap calls for 300 or more.

What the partnership actually includes

Coinbase’s CaaS platform provides spot trading infrastructure, institutional-grade custody, and staking services that Webull layers into its own app. Customers see Webull’s interface, but Coinbase is handling the backend infrastructure.

On October 30, 2025, Webull added futures contracts for Dogecoin, Solana, XRP, and Litecoin through Coinbase Derivatives. These are CFTC-cleared products, not the unregulated perpetual swaps available on offshore exchanges.

In August 2025, Webull launched crypto trading in Australia with support for up to 240 tokens via Coinbase Prime, featuring 30-basis-point spreads.

Why Webull ditched Bakkt

Coinbase is publicly traded, operates the largest US crypto exchange, and has built out a suite of institutional services that go well beyond basic custody. The CaaS platform gives Webull access to Coinbase’s liquidity, compliance infrastructure, and token listing pipeline.

The original partnership announcement came on May 16, 2025, with the full rollout following in June. By March 2026, a Coinbase case study documented the results: roughly 101 tokens supported, with ambitions to triple that number. Webull was also reintroducing crypto trading on its main app after previously limiting those features during a period of heightened regulatory scrutiny.

The bigger picture for retail crypto access

For Coinbase, the CaaS model represents a revenue stream that doesn’t depend on retail traders using Coinbase’s own app. Every trade executed through Webull’s crypto features generates revenue for Coinbase’s infrastructure.

Executives from both companies have emphasized that the partnership prioritizes scalability within a regulated framework, including advanced risk management tools and a deliberate decision not to launch new, untested tokens.

With the token count on track to exceed 300 and futures products already live for Dogecoin, Solana, XRP, and Litecoin, the Webull-Coinbase integration is positioning itself as one of the more comprehensive regulated crypto trading environments available to retail investors.
