Missing figures stay unavailable. Forward P/E requires a dated source. Annual revenue, revenue growth, net income and margin come from each company's own 10-K, in US dollars, and each row shows that fiscal year. Revenue growth compares the fiscal year with the prior year stated in the same 10-K. Net income is the full year amount attributable to the company, or available to common stockholders where the filing states only that, or consolidated net income. Each row names its basis. Trailing P/E reads "Not meaningful" when the dated trailing diluted EPS is a loss or zero. An operating margin appears only when the filing states both the operating income and the revenue for the same year.
Sources: SEC filings, Gloria daily closes and CoinGecko. Oldest record refresh: Oct 28, 2026, 5:41 PM EDT. Refresh is not a price or filing date. Each row shows its price date and its annual fiscal period. Peers use industry code and company size, or editorial selection. Market cap multiplies that row price by the company share total the latest SEC filing states for every share class together. Trailing P/E divides it by trailing diluted earnings from SEC filings. Rolled earnings per share are approximate because share counts can change between periods. Both appear only when the SEC data carries its date, so they are estimates at one price date, not synchronized filing valuations. Not investment advice.

Quoted token and share units can have different rights, multipliers and dividend treatment. This is not an executable premium or arbitrage signal.
Microsoft’s cloud business just gave the AI trade a fresh reason to keep breathing. Azure revenue grew 48% year-over-year to $33.17 billion in the company’s fiscal first quarter of 2027, topping analyst expectations of approximately 45% growth.
Analyst Dan Ives wasted no time framing what it meant. He called Microsoft the “barometer” for enterprise AI spending, and pointed to Azure as the most reliable read on how much corporate demand is actually out there.
The numbers behind the beat
Microsoft reported results after the market closed on October 28, 2026. Total revenue came in at $92.28 billion, up 19% from a year earlier.
That cleared the consensus estimate of $90.62 billion with some room to spare.
Adjusted earnings per share landed at $4.89, ahead of the $4.71 analysts had forecast. That figure excludes any gains tied to OpenAI, so the beat came from the core business rather than an accounting assist.
The Agents and Infrastructure segment posted $76.8 billion in revenue, a 25% year-over-year increase.
Then there was the guidance. Microsoft projected Azure growth of 49-50% for the next quarter.
The spending surprise
Arguably the most interesting number in the report was the one that came in below expectations. Capital expenditures totaled $45.2 billion, compared with the $50 billion analysts expected.

Free cash flow reached $18.6 billion, significantly exceeding analyst forecasts.
Investors responded accordingly. The stock rose in after-hours trading and continued to gain in premarket action the following session.
Why Ives keeps pointing at Azure
Ives maintained his Outperform rating on Microsoft and set a price target of $615. His argument centers on Azure as a demand signal rather than just a revenue line.
The logic is fairly intuitive. Enterprises building or deploying AI tools need computing capacity, and a large share of that capacity gets rented from cloud providers like Microsoft.
So when Azure grows faster than forecast, it implies businesses are actively buying, not merely piloting. A survey can tell you what CIOs plan to do. A cloud invoice tells you what they actually did.
What this means for the AI trade
For investors, the most important takeaway is the guidance, not the beat. A 48% quarter is backward-looking. A forecast of 49-50% is Microsoft telling the market it sees demand holding up into the next three months.
The capex number cuts both ways, though. Coming in $4.8 billion under expectations could reflect efficiency, timing, or supply constraints, and the report itself does not settle which.
The OpenAI exclusion is also worth tracking. Microsoft’s earnings per share beat came without any OpenAI-related gains, which makes the core result cleaner, but it also means the relationship remains a separate variable that can swing reported figures in future periods.
Ives’s “barometer” framing raises the stakes for Microsoft’s next report. If Azure is the gauge for enterprise AI demand, then any slowdown would be read as a sector-wide warning, not just a company-specific miss.
