Tokenization has spent years as a conference-panel promise. According to Evernorth’s CEO, it has now become a roughly $400 billion reality, and it got there in about 18 months.
The catch is that most of that value isn’t doing much. Evernorth’s own research suggests the bulk of tokenized assets behave more like digital filing cabinets than working financial instruments.
A big number with a smaller number hiding inside it
Evernorth Holdings, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN, describes itself as a digital asset treasury company focused on XRP. It published its Tokenization Report 2026 on October 27, 2026.
The headline figure: tokenized real-world assets across blockchain networks total approximately $400 billion. Real-world assets, or RWAs, are things like funds, bonds and other traditional instruments represented as tokens on a blockchain.
Here’s the asterisk. Only around $39 billion of that total supports actual on-chain trading, settlement or use as collateral.
That works out to less than a tenth of the pile. The rest mostly functions as a record of who owns what, which is useful, but it’s the blockchain equivalent of buying a sports car and leaving it in the garage.
The XRP Ledger’s institutional turn
Unsurprisingly for an XRP-focused firm, the report spends considerable time on the XRP Ledger, or XRPL. The data it presents is notable regardless of the author’s affiliation.
Tokenized value on the XRPL climbed from $1.76 billion in February 2026 to roughly $5.05 billion by October 20, 2026. That’s nearly a tripling in about eight months.
The composition matters as much as the size. The report says about 90% of the tokenized value on the XRPL comes from regulated investment products.

The report points to growing use of compliance tools, such as clawback rights for tokenized assets. A clawback lets an issuer reverse or reclaim tokens under certain conditions, a feature crypto purists tend to dislike and institutions tend to require.
A key catalyst, per Evernorth, was the launch of XRPL permissioned domains in February 2026. Think of a permissioned domain as a members-only section of a public venue: the ledger stays open, but certain trading areas are restricted to participants who have passed credential checks.
Since that rollout, order activity among credentialed participants has picked up, according to the report.
The more striking shift shows up on the XRPL’s decentralized exchange. The share of trading that pairs stablecoins or fiat-backed tokens against XRP rose from about 10% in 2024 to an average of 86% so far in 2026.
Where Evernorth fits in
Evernorth isn’t just writing reports about the XRPL. It’s positioned as an active participant in it.
The company holds about 473 million XRP in its treasury. It has strategic partnerships with Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo tied to its treasury operations.
According to the research, Evernorth is using that treasury to support liquidity and trading venues as XRPL features continue to mature through late 2026.
That gives the company a clear stake in the story it’s telling. When a firm holding hundreds of millions of XRP publishes data showing XRPL momentum, readers should note the alignment of interests. The underlying figures, though, are the kind that can be checked against on-chain activity.
What this means
The most important number in the report may not be $400 billion. It may be the gap between $400 billion and $39 billion.
For the XRPL specifically, the data shows a ledger leaning hard into compliance. A network where 90% of tokenized value is regulated investments, and where trading has shifted heavily toward stablecoin and fiat-token pairs, is building for institutions rather than retail speculators.
That strategy has trade-offs. Permissioned domains and clawback rights make institutions comfortable, but they also move parts of the ledger further from the open, permissionless ideal that drew many early users to crypto.
The XRPL’s roughly $5.05 billion also needs perspective. It’s growing fast, but it remains a small slice of the approximately $400 billion global tokenized market.
