Injective Trench Treasury goes live with first INJ rewards to Sprout and RunUp
The Injective Foundation's new program rewards builders and community members, starting with two projects credited with onboarding users and developers
The Injective Foundation has opened a new treasury aimed at the people doing the unglamorous work of growing its ecosystem. The first INJ rewards have already gone out.
The Injective Trench Treasury was announced on October 5, 2026. The program officially kicked off the next day, October 6, with initial distributions to the communities behind Sprout (@sproutsomefun) and RunUp (@runupdotfun).
How the Trench Treasury works
The treasury has two jobs. It supports builder teams working on Injective, and it rewards community members, whom the ecosystem calls “ninjas.”
The name comes from the idea of “the trenches,” a nod to grassroots community-building.
Sprout and RunUp were chosen as the first recipients for a specific reason. Both projects have been credited with driving user engagement and bringing new builders onto Injective.
The foundation laid out several criteria for evaluating which projects get support:

- How central INJ is to the project’s operations
- How widely the project’s token holders are distributed
- Whether the project has genuine liquidity
- Whether its community stays active over time
- Whether it follows fair distribution practices
- Whether it brings innovative technology or value-accrual mechanisms
The Injective Foundation has not yet disclosed the overall size of the treasury. It also has not published the reward amounts sent to Sprout and RunUp, or a formal application process for other teams.
Part of a bigger push
The Trench Treasury is described as the first of several initiatives the Injective Foundation plans to roll out.
The community has developed its own culture of grassroots projects, memes, and launchpads designed to onboard new users.
Canary Capital has filed for an INJ ETF, which has been described as a staked INJ product.
The foundation is framing the treasury as different from traditional grant programs. Classic grants often fund early ideas and hope for the best. This program concentrates on projects that show signs of sustainability and on participants who have stuck around.
