It works across four segments: medical devices, diagnostics, nutrition, and established pharmaceuticals. Its products include diabetes technology such as the FreeStyle Libre glucose monitor, diagnostic systems and tests, nutrition brands for infants and adults, and branded generic medicines sold mainly outside the United States. Robert Ford serves as chairman and chief executive. Abbott was founded in 1888 and is based in Abbott Park, Illinois, and says it reaches more than 2 billion people worldwide.
