About Across Protocol
Across Protocol is a decentralized cross-chain token bridge that transfers tokens between blockchain networks at low cost and high speed, secured by UMA's optimistic oracle. Hart Lambur founded the project around 2021, and the protocol went live on Ethereum mainnet in November 2021. The native token, ACX, launched on 28 November 2022. Instead of running its own consensus chain, Across uses an optimistic design where relayers fulfill transfer requests. Correctness is enforced through UMA's optimistic oracle dispute resolution mechanism. ACX is an ERC-20 governance token used for voting on protocol parameters, treasury usage, and fee switches. It also functions in staking and liquidity incentive programs for bridge liquidity providers. The total supply of ACX is capped at one billion tokens, with circulating supply increasing progressively through emissions governed by the DAO treasury. Across Protocol allows users and applications to move tokens across Ethereum and compatible networks including Optimism, Arbitrum, and Polygon.
