About Bitcoin SV
Bitcoin SV is a blockchain network and cryptocurrency that aims to restore and scale the original Bitcoin protocol as described in the Bitcoin white paper. It emerged as a hard fork of Bitcoin Cash in November 2018, when the Bitcoin Cash chain split into two separate blockchains. The project was led by Craig Steven Wright, with development primarily associated with the company nChain. Bitcoin SV uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism in which miners produce blocks roughly every ten minutes and receive block rewards that follow Bitcoin-style halvings. The native token, BSV, is used to pay transaction fees to miners and is the block reward for securing the network. The network is also used for peer-to-peer electronic cash, micropayments, and enterprise-level on-chain data services. Bitcoin SV follows the original Bitcoin supply model with a hard cap of 21 million BSV. Circulating supply is approximately 20 million tokens, representing over 95 percent of the maximum.
