It also makes and sells fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, and additives, and its business is usually split into upstream and downstream operations. Michael Wirth serves as chief executive, and the company is headquartered in Houston, Texas. Chevron is one of the largest publicly traded energy companies. Its 2025 annual report says it is also expanding into renewable fuels, carbon capture, hydrogen, and power generation for data centers.
