About Cronos
Cronos is the native token of the Cronos blockchain, which supports decentralized applications across areas such as finance, NFTs, and gaming. Crypto.com created the project, and the Cronos mainnet launched on November 8, 2021. CRO pays transaction fees, backs staking and governance, and supports activity across the ecosystem. The Cronos EVM chain uses proof of authority, while a separate Cronos proof of stake chain sits alongside it. On supply, ecosystem materials cite a maximum of 100 billion CRO, though 70 billion were burned in 2021, leaving a lower cap that many guides reference.
