About Curve DAO

Curve DAO, also known as Curve Finance, is a decentralized exchange protocol built on Ethereum and optimized for low-slippage swaps between stablecoins and pegged assets. Michael Egorov, a Russian physicist and software engineer, founded the project in January 2020. The CRV governance token and DAO contracts were deployed on Ethereum on 13 August 2020, initially by an anonymous community member before being verified and adopted by the Curve team. The protocol uses an automated market maker design tailored for assets of similar value, with on-chain governance conducted through the Curve DAO, which is built on Aragon. The native token is the Curve DAO Token (ticker CRV). Holders can lock CRV to receive vote-escrowed CRV, known as veCRV, which grants voting power over governance proposals and liquidity gauge emissions. CRV has a maximum total supply of approximately 3.03 billion tokens, with an initial supply of roughly 1.27 to 1.3 billion CRV. Emissions are scheduled to decline over time according to a fixed schedule. Curve DAO is a widely used liquidity protocol in decentralized finance, primarily serving users and protocols that need efficient stablecoin and pegged-asset trading.
