About Hyperliquid

Hyperliquid is a layer-1 blockchain and decentralized exchange built for perpetual futures and spot trading, with the whole order book running on-chain. Its native token, HYPE, is used for staking, governance, gas fees on the HyperEVM, validator delegation, and trading fee discounts. Hyperliquid Labs, founded in 2022 by Jeff Yan and a developer known as iliensinc, built the network. The HYPE token launched through a genesis airdrop on November 29, 2024. The network reaches agreement through HyperBFT, a delegated proof of stake design where staked tokens secure the chain. Supply is capped at 1 billion HYPE, with no minting beyond that limit.
