About Ravencoin
Ravencoin is an open-source blockchain built for creating and transferring assets on-chain, including user-issued tokens that represent securities, collectibles, and other real-world items. Bruce Fenton, Tron Black, and Joel Weight created it, publishing the whitepaper on October 31, 2017. The network launched on January 3, 2018, with no premine and no founder allocation; all coins have been distributed through mining from the start. Ravencoin uses proof-of-work consensus. It originally ran the X16R algorithm and later switched to KAWPOW. The native coin, RVN, pays network transaction fees and is burned when users create new assets on the blockchain. There is no native staking. The total supply of RVN is capped at 21 billion coins, all issued through mining rewards.
