About TrueUSD
TrueUSD (TUSD) is a fiat-backed stablecoin pegged 1:1 with the US dollar, used for trading, payments, and decentralized finance. It was created by TrustToken, now called Archblock, through its subsidiary TrueCoin LLC. The company was co-founded by Rafael Cosman, Danny An, Tory Reiss, and Stephen Kade, and established in 2017. The token launched in early 2018, with initial exchange listings on platforms including Bittrex, as an alternative to other USD stablecoins. TUSD operates on a mint-and-burn model across multiple public blockchains, including as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. The underlying US dollar reserves are held in segregated escrow accounts by regulated trust companies and verified through real-time proof-of-reserves integrations such as Chainlink oracles. The TUSD token is a stable dollar-denominated asset, not a governance or staking token. It is primarily used for trade settlement, collateral in lending and DeFi protocols, liquidity provision, and cross-border transfers. TUSD has no fixed maximum supply. It expands or contracts through issuance and redemption against its dollar reserves, with total supply at around 494 million tokens. The supply is designed to scale with market demand while remaining fully collateralized. It functions as a dollar-equivalent instrument for users who want price stability within crypto markets.
