Metaplanet to invest 2,100 BTC to launch US Bitcoin treasury platform

The 2,100 BTC contribution represents roughly 4.9% of Metaplanet's total holdings.

Metaplanet plans to invest 2,100 BTC, valued at approximately $132 million, in Nasdaq-listed Super League Enterprise as part of a deal to establish a US-based Bitcoin treasury platform, according to a Tuesday press release.

Metaplanet will contribute the Bitcoin and $2.5 million in cash in exchange for common shares, preferred stock and warrants, and is expected to own roughly 95.7% of the company following the transaction.

The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026 if shareholder and regulatory approvals are secured.

Super League will be renamed Superplanet, Inc. and adopt the ticker SUPA, while continuing its existing advertising and media business. The company will become Metaplanet’s US-listed Bitcoin treasury platform, alongside its Tokyo-listed parent, which holds about 43,000 BTC and ranks third among corporate Bitcoin holders worldwide.

Metaplanet said the structure will allow the combined group to raise capital in both Japan and the US while maintaining a consolidated Bitcoin position.

Superplanet intends to use its initial 2,100 BTC as the asset base for potential future financing, including perpetual preferred stock issuances. Metaplanet will have the option to invest up to an additional $210 million in junior preferred stock, while its shares and other securities will be locked up for five years.
