MoonPay partners with Whop to let AI agents shop and pay for users

The partnership allows AI agents to discover and purchase products through conversational interfaces while users retain control over payment approvals.

MoonPay has partnered with Whop to bring AI-powered shopping to the platform’s network of businesses, allowing autonomous agents to discover products, prepare purchases and initiate payments through conversational interfaces.

Under the agreement, Whop has joined PayBox Markets, MoonPay’s commerce aggregation network, enabling AI agents connected to PayBox to search storefronts, place orders and prepare transactions while customers retain control over payment approvals.

The integration is live and supports purchases of products, subscriptions and services sold through Whop, according to the companies.

Whop is the largest storefront network to join PayBox Markets so far, expanding the range of businesses accessible to AI agents without requiring merchants to modify their existing stores.

The partnership follows Whop’s recently announced $200 million Series D funding round at a $5.1 billion valuation, led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures.

“Agents have learned to search, write, and reason. Buying was the missing step,” said Neeraj Prasad, Chief Engineer at MoonPay Labs.

“Whop is where the next-gen entrepreneurs are building, and PayBox is how an agent can finally walk in and shop, on the person’s terms. The conversation is the new checkout.”

MoonPay expands PayBox into AI shopping

MoonPay launched PayBox in July as a payment vault designed to let AI agents transact through conversational platforms, including ChatGPT and Claude.

The platform connects agents to payment credentials and digital wallets while separating transaction preparation from authorization.

For Whop customers, the integration allows an agent to find an item, retrieve its current price and prepare an order directly within a conversation.

Before payment, the buyer can review the product, total amount, payment method and recipient, retaining control over whether the transaction proceeds.

Whop merchants do not need to change their existing storefronts to become accessible through the PayBox Markets network.

The system uses threshold cryptography and secure enclaves to protect wallet credentials, preventing AI agents or MoonPay from independently accessing a complete private key.

According to MoonPay’s technical documentation, agents can operate within predefined permissions, while users can restrict spending authority and revoke access.

PayBox Markets extends that infrastructure to commerce by allowing connected marketplaces to make their products available to agents through a shared interface.

Whop expands AI commerce following $200M funding round

Whop’s integration comes shortly after the company raised $200 million in a funding round that valued it at $5.1 billion, more than triple its $1.6 billion valuation in February.

The round was led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures, following a separate $200 million strategic investment from stablecoin issuer Tether earlier this year.

Whop said approximately 25,000 business operators generate $550 million in monthly sales through its platform, which has facilitated more than $7 billion in transactions across 185 countries.

The company has also expanded its AI infrastructure, introducing developer tools that allow agents to interact with its services and automate business operations.

The MoonPay partnership adds purchasing functionality to that ecosystem, giving AI agents a way to discover and transact with merchants through a conversational interface.

The companies are positioning the integration around the emerging market for agentic commerce, where AI assistants handle more of the shopping process rather than simply recommending products.

An October 2026 Boston Consulting Group report found that nearly 70% of retailers expect AI-driven commerce to have a significant or transformational impact on their businesses within two years.
