Moonshot AI expands to Singapore and starts hiring
The Beijing startup behind the Kimi models is recruiting experienced staff to build revenue and partnerships outside China
China’s Moonshot AI plans to operate in Singapore, and it has started posting jobs aimed at seasoned applicants.
For a company that is only a few years old, that is a notable move. Moonshot is trying to turn a string of headline-grabbing model releases into a business that earns money beyond its home market.
What Moonshot is hiring for
The clearest signal came through LinkedIn. On October 20, 2026, Moonshot AI posted a Singapore-based sales role.
The listing is open to candidates with backgrounds in sales, venture capital, consulting, product development, or engineering.
The stated goal is to convert early wins into scalable revenue and meaningful partnerships.
Singapore is not a brand-new address for the company either. Moonshot incorporated a Singapore entity in July 2023. That entity was renamed Novascent in June 2026.
The model doing the talking
Moonshot’s expansion follows the July 2026 launch of Kimi K3, its newest model. Kimi K3 is described as the largest open-weight AI system in the world, with 2.8 trillion parameters.

Kimi K3’s performance is described as competing closely with offerings from Anthropic, one of the best-known names among US AI developers. For a startup founded in March 2023, sitting in that conversation is a meaningful achievement.
Who is behind Moonshot
Moonshot AI is based in Beijing. It was founded in March 2023 by Yang Zhilin, Zhou Xinyu, and Wu Yuxin, all of whom are Tsinghua University alumni.
Its investors include Tencent Holdings, Meituan, and China Mobile. With that support, the company has reached valuations in the tens of billions of dollars as of 2026.
Why Singapore, and why now
The renaming of the Singapore entity to Novascent in June 2026 adds an extra layer. A distinct brand name for the international arm could give the company flexibility in how it presents itself to customers and partners abroad.
The timing lines up neatly. Novascent got its new name in June, Kimi K3 launched in July, and the sales hiring surfaced in October.
What this means
The job listing’s emphasis on partnerships is worth watching. An open-weight model can be run by anyone, which means Moonshot’s competitive edge in selling it may come from services, support, and integration rather than access alone. People with consulting and venture capital backgrounds are often the ones who structure those kinds of arrangements.
Tencent, Meituan, and China Mobile have helped push the company to a valuation in the tens of billions. Valuations at that level eventually need revenue to support them, and international sales are one of the more direct ways to get there.
The things to track from here are concrete. Watch for additional Singapore job postings beyond the October 20, 2026 sales role, any announced partnerships with companies in the region, and how the Novascent name is used in commercial dealings.
