Missing figures stay unavailable. Forward P/E requires a dated source. Annual revenue, revenue growth, net income and margin come from each company's own 10-K, in US dollars, and each row shows that fiscal year. Revenue growth compares the fiscal year with the prior year stated in the same 10-K. Net income is the full year amount attributable to the company, or available to common stockholders where the filing states only that, or consolidated net income. Each row names its basis. Trailing P/E reads "Not meaningful" when the dated trailing diluted EPS is a loss or zero. An operating margin appears only when the filing states both the operating income and the revenue for the same year.
Sources: SEC filings, Gloria daily closes and CoinGecko. Oldest record refresh: Oct 29, 2026, 1:52 PM EDT. Refresh is not a price or filing date. Each row shows its price date and its annual fiscal period. Peers use industry code and company size, or editorial selection. Market cap multiplies that row price by the company share total the latest SEC filing states for every share class together. Trailing P/E divides it by trailing diluted earnings from SEC filings. Rolled earnings per share are approximate because share counts can change between periods. Both appear only when the SEC data carries its date, so they are estimates at one price date, not synchronized filing valuations. Not investment advice.

Nvidia’s market capitalization swelled by $442 billion in a single trading session on August 27, making it the second-largest one-day gain any US company has ever recorded. The only bigger single-session jump belongs to Microsoft, which added $450 billion back in July.
Shares climbed 8.7%, Nvidia’s best day since April 2025. After the dust settled, the chipmaker’s total valuation stood at approximately $5.5 trillion, comfortably securing its throne as the world’s most valuable public company.
What lit the fuse
The catalyst was a second-quarter earnings report that made Wall Street’s already-optimistic models look conservative. Nvidia posted revenue of approximately $96.2 billion for the quarter, more than doubling its year-ago figure. The data-center segment accounted for roughly $89 billion of that total.
Nvidia’s forward guidance projected roughly 70% revenue growth for the next fiscal year, a number that blew past the Street consensus of around 45%.
Context matters: the road to this rally
This surge didn’t happen in a vacuum. It arrived after a stretch that had tested the patience of even Nvidia’s most devoted shareholders. The stock had declined in six of the prior eight quarters, weighed down by persistent concerns that the AI spending boom might be peaking or that hyperscalers would eventually slow their GPU procurement.

Ripple effects across the market
Nvidia’s rally didn’t stay contained. The surge sent a jolt through the broader semiconductor and technology sectors, lifting chip stocks and AI-adjacent names across the board.
The gap between Nvidia’s projected 70% growth and the Street’s prior 45% estimate is significant enough to recalibrate valuation models across the sector.
AMD, Intel, and a growing roster of custom chip efforts from hyperscalers like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have all been positioning themselves as alternatives to Nvidia’s dominance. Yet the $89 billion data-center quarter is a stark reminder that competitors are fighting for scraps of a market Nvidia still overwhelmingly controls.
