Palm Collective, an open-source, web3 community-powered initiative backed by Consensys and Polygon, has unveiled the Obscura Community, a platform designed to bolster Web3 artists, as shared by Palm Collective today. Along with this launch, the project has also announced a $1,000 art contest to “celebrate the community’s birth and womxn’s month.”

The contest, dubbed “Call x Digital Art: Egalitarian Utopia,” opens on March 11 and welcomes all artists to participate. In addition to a $1,000 prize, the winning artwork will be featured in a window display on Broadway Avenue in New York on April 1, Palm Collective noted.

According to the team, a selection committee, including Empress Trash, Dawnia AKA, ObscuraDAO, and UnknownCollector, will invite the top 15 to 20 artists to exhibit their work in a wall-to-ceiling display at Lume Studios NYC during the Palm Collective NFTNYC event. Participants who do not win will still receive Palm Collective Proofs.

Artists interested in entering must link a crypto wallet to create a Palm ID, mint their artwork as an NFT on the Palm network, and submit their entry by March 22, Palm Collective highlighted. Each artist is allowed a single submission, which must be an original piece not previously minted elsewhere and must be minted on the Palm Network.

Additionally, contestants are required to comply with Palm Collective’s terms and conditions and be prepared to provide a high-definition version of their work for projection if chosen. The competition is open to various digital mediums, including photos, videos, music, 3D, and AI, with the stipulation that AI-generated submissions be clearly indicated.

The submission window closes at 4 p.m. EST on March 22, followed by a curation period from March 23 to March 25. Collective voting will commence at 7 a.m. EST on March 26 and conclude at 4 p.m. EST on March 28. The selected winners’ artworks will be showcased at LUME Studios NYC for a single day during the Egalitarian Utopia Closing Party, which runs from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on April 1, Palm Collective added.
