Plume joins DTCC digital assets working group as tokenization push gains momentum
The RWA-focused blockchain brings its SEC transfer agent credentials to an industry body now counting over 100 firms.
Plume Network, a modular EVM-compatible blockchain built specifically for tokenizing real-world assets, has joined the DTCC’s Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group. The group exists to advance digital asset adoption and improve interoperability between blockchain-based systems and traditional settlement infrastructure.
Plume registered as a transfer agent with the SEC on October 6, 2025, meaning it is already authorized to manage onchain shareholder records and handle compliance functions that would otherwise require a bank or brokerage intermediary. Plume can legally sit between a company and its shareholders, recording ownership on a blockchain rather than in a spreadsheet somewhere.
What the DTCC working group actually is
The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation settles the overwhelming majority of US securities transactions. DTCC launched its dedicated Digital Assets Solutions business line around March 31, 2026. The working group it formed started with over 50 firms in May 2026 and had grown to more than 100 members by July 2026.
In July 2026, the DTCC completed successful trades involving DTC-custodied tokenized assets, including Russell 1000 stocks and ETFs. Those trades came roughly seven months after a key SEC No-Action Letter provided the regulatory clearance that made them possible. A broader commercial launch of the DTC tokenization service is planned for October 2026.
Plume’s membership in this group puts it in a room with more than 100 financial institutions that are collectively designing how tokenized securities will actually work in practice, covering everything from custody to settlement finality to compliance reporting.
Why Plume’s transfer agent status matters here
The SEC transfer agent registration means Plume can directly maintain the official records of who owns what for tokenized securities. It means Plume’s blockchain is not just a ledger that mirrors a record kept elsewhere, it is the authoritative record.
The company has highlighted its interoperability with DTCC networks as a core feature since that October 2025 registration, positioning the transfer agent status as a bridge rather than a destination.
What investors and traders should watch
The October 2026 commercial launch of the DTC tokenization service is the clearest near-term catalyst in this story. If that launch proceeds on schedule, it would represent the first time mainstream institutional settlement infrastructure formally supports tokenized securities at scale. Plume, as a working group member with existing DTCC interoperability, would be positioned to service that demand from day one.
