Robinhood UK unit wins FCA crypto registration

The trading platform secured FCA registration and plans to launch crypto services in the UK around July 1, positioning itself before a comprehensive regulatory overhaul.

Robinhood’s UK unit has been added to the Financial Conduct Authority’s register of cryptoasset firms, allowing the trading platform to offer crypto services in the country.

The registration indicates Robinhood complies with the FCA’s anti-money laundering requirements under the regulator’s current crypto framework, joining more than 50 approved companies including Coinbase, Kraken, and Crypto.com.

The approval positions Robinhood ahead of the UK’s upcoming crypto licensing regime, with applications for the new framework opening later this year before the rules come into force in October next year.
