A new UAE investment firm wants to own hotels, branded apartments, and Bitcoin at the same time. Standard Asset Company has unveiled a $1.5 billion strategy that pairs income-producing UAE real estate with a long-term Bitcoin reserve.

The firm announced the plan in Gulf News. It also named Coinbase Asset Management as the exclusive manager of its Bitcoin holdings.

What Standard Asset Company is building

Standard Asset Company, also known as Standard Proprietary Company Ltd., describes itself as a proprietary investment firm based in the UAE. The plan was revealed on October 27, 2026.

The timing coincided with the opening of the firm’s headquarters in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, or ADGM. ADGM is Abu Dhabi’s international financial center, and it is where SAC intends to run the strategy.

The real estate side targets two property types: hospitality assets and branded residences. The goal for those properties is twofold. SAC wants them to produce operating income while also gaining value over time.

The Bitcoin side plays a different role. It is framed as a professionally managed reserve held for the long haul, not a trading book.

Tying the two together is what the firm calls a generate-retain-redeploy model. The properties produce cash, the firm holds onto value, and capital gets shifted between real estate and Bitcoin as conditions change.

Coinbase gets the keys to the reserve

The most notable name in the announcement is Coinbase Asset Management. The unit has been appointed exclusive asset manager for SAC’s Bitcoin.

Coinbase Asset Management is led by president Anthony Bassili, a former BlackRock executive. SAC says the partnership is meant to bring institutional-grade standards to how its digital assets are managed.

The people behind the plan

SAC was founded by Sakhib Waseem, Adam Ali, and Mason Borda. Their track record includes advising on transactions exceeding $7 billion.

The founders have also facilitated over $1 billion in digital asset offerings.

The adviser list includes Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum and Mick Mulvaney, the former White House Chief of Staff, among others.

What hasn’t been disclosed

There is a notable gap in the numbers. SAC has not revealed how much Bitcoin it holds or plans to buy.

The split between real estate and digital assets is also unknown. A $1.5 billion headline figure tells you the size of the ambition, but not how much of it is actually pointed at Bitcoin.

Why the hybrid model is worth watching

Most corporate Bitcoin treasury strategies follow a familiar script. A company raises capital or uses spare cash, then parks it in Bitcoin as a reserve asset.

SAC is trying something slightly different. It wants real estate cash flows to feed the machine, giving it an income engine that does not depend on Bitcoin’s price moving up.

Bitcoin itself produces no cash, so firms built purely around it rely on price appreciation or new capital. Rental and hospitality income could offer SAC a steadier base.

The real estate portion is focused on the UAE, specifically hospitality and branded residences, so the strategy’s income leans on one regional property market and a couple of segments within it.

What this means for investors and the market

The choice of ADGM as headquarters is part of the broader story. Locating in a dedicated financial free zone gives SAC a regulated home base for a strategy that straddles two asset classes regulators often treat very differently.

For investors watching this space, a few signals will matter most. The first is whether SAC discloses its Bitcoin holdings and the real estate versus digital asset split. The second is which properties it actually acquires, and whether they generate the income the model depends on. The third is how much capital eventually flows from those properties into the Bitcoin reserve, since that redeployment step is the part that makes this more than a property fund with a crypto side hustle.
