The Canton Foundation has awarded RedStone a grant of 15.8 million Canton Coin (CC). The money will fund an open-source pricing tool built for institutions on the Canton Network.

The pitch is simple to describe and hard to build. Banks want to use the same market prices as everyone else, but they don’t want data providers learning what they’re trading. For an industry that treats its deal terms like family recipes, that is a meaningful ask.

What RedStone is building

RedStone is an oracle provider. That makes it the courier that carries outside information, such as an asset’s price, onto a blockchain so applications can act on it.

The planned tool would give Canton applications access to shared market prices. Those prices feed core financial plumbing: valuing collateral, triggering liquidations and settling trades.

The key design goal is that sensitive transaction details stay hidden. Neither outside data providers nor the wider network would see them.

RedStone has already laid groundwork for this. It has built Daml-native oracle infrastructure. Daml is the smart contract language used on Canton.

Its price feeds are designed to fit Canton’s privacy framework through explicit disclosure mechanisms. Data is shared only with the parties meant to see it.

The grant also builds on the Canton Access and Privacy Standard, or CAPS, which RedStone submitted in April 2026. CAPS targets the secure and private sharing of reference prices across the network.

If CAPS is the rulebook, the new open-source tool is the equipment that lets teams follow the rules without writing everything from scratch.

How the grant works

The 15.8 million CC comes from the Canton Foundation’s Protocol Development Fund. That fund pays out CC grants tied to milestones, rather than handing over everything upfront.

Grants are allocated quarterly. The fund itself is financed by 5% of future CC emissions.

RedStone is not an outsider here. It became a Canton Foundation member on July 24, 2025, and it operates a participant node on the network.

Why Canton cares about pricing

Canton has positioned itself as the privacy-first chain for traditional finance. Its main use cases are tokenized real-world assets and capital markets workflows.

Activity on the network is heavily tied to US Treasury repos and other tokenized financial instruments. Canton Network reportedly processes over $6 trillion in tokenized assets, with approximately $300 billion in daily trading volume as of late 2025.

RedStone says its record shows zero mispricing events and 100% uptime across its deployments.

RedStone has also been widening its coverage on Canton. In 2026 it added commodity pricing for gold and silver to support trading on the platform.

What this means

For institutions, the main story is about removing a reason to stay on the sidelines. Large firms have been cautious about putting trades on shared ledgers partly because public infrastructure tends to leak information.

A standardized, private pricing layer tackles one specific version of that leak. If firms can pull trusted prices without broadcasting their positions, one of the practical objections to using Canton gets weaker.

The open-source approach also matters. A shared tool means individual apps don’t each need to build their own private oracle setup, which reduces duplicated work and the chance of inconsistent prices across applications.

For RedStone, the grant strengthens its bid to be the default data layer on Canton. Being early, being a member and now being funded to build the reference tooling gives it a sizable head start over competing oracle providers on the network.

For CC holders, the grant is paid in CC from a fund financed by future emissions, so it represents new tokens entering circulation over time.

The milestone structure gives observers a clear way to track progress. Watch whether RedStone delivers on its quarterly checkpoints, whether CAPS gains adoption among Canton applications, and whether the tool shows up in live collateral and settlement workflows.
