SwissBorg joins Eurøpe Consortium to back euro stablecoin EURØP

The crypto app signs on as a founding member alongside Schuman Financial, eToro and LCX to push a MiCA-compliant euro token onchain

SwissBorg has joined the Eurøpe Consortium as a founding member. The group’s goal is to get a euro stablecoin called EURØP used in practice, not just in pitch decks.

The crypto app sits alongside Schuman Financial, eToro and LCX in the founding lineup. The consortium’s focus is distribution and infrastructure for a regulated digital euro token that runs across several major blockchains.

What SwissBorg is signing up for

EURØP is issued by Schuman Financial. It is structured as an electronic money token, or EMT, under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, known as MiCA.

An EMT is the category MiCA uses for crypto tokens that track a single official currency. Put simply, EURØP is meant to behave like a euro that moves on a blockchain.

The token is 100% backed by euros. On top of that one-to-one backing, Schuman Financial keeps an additional 2% reserve fund.

That reserve is regularly audited by KPMG. The backing is held at certified banks, including Société Générale.

EURØP currently operates on five blockchains: Avalanche, Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and XRPL. That spread lets the token reach users across several of the larger smart contract and payments ecosystems rather than living on a single chain.

The consortium’s founding program targets a specific gap. It aims to build accessible infrastructure and real use cases for euro stablecoins in Europe, in line with the regulated trading environment MiCA set up.

The timeline so far

SwissBorg’s involvement did not start with the consortium announcement. EURØP trading went live on the SwissBorg platform in December 2025, the same month the company joined the group as a founding member.

In June 2026, SwissBorg moved user accounts to BlockNodes SAS. That is a MiCA-authorized French entity, and the migration covered users in the European Economic Area and the UK.

The following month, July 2026, SwissBorg launched a loyalty program tied to EURØP. Users can earn rewards in BORG, SwissBorg’s native token, on EURØP deposits.

The program comes with no lock-ups. Users do not have to freeze their deposits for a set period to qualify, and the rewards run until August 2026.

SwissBorg is also offering zero exchange fees for EURØP deposits until August 31, 2026.

Why a consortium, and why now

Stablecoins live or die on network effects. A token is useful only if exchanges list it, apps support it, and people actually hold it.

No single issuer can manufacture that alone. A consortium spreads the work across companies that already have users, which is why trading platforms like eToro, LCX and SwissBorg are in the founding group alongside the issuer.

MiCA is the backdrop for all of it. The regulation created a formal licensing path for crypto service providers and stablecoin issuers across the EU, and European platforms have been reorganizing to fit inside it.

SwissBorg’s shift to a French MiCA-authorized entity is one example of that reorganization. Joining a consortium built around a MiCA-compliant euro token is another step in the same direction.

What this means

For SwissBorg users in Europe, the practical change is straightforward. There is now a regulated euro token on the platform, with fee waivers and BORG rewards attached for a limited window.

The no lock-up feature is the detail worth noticing. Many reward programs in crypto require users to commit funds for weeks or months, which turns a stable asset into an illiquid one. This program skips that tradeoff, at least until the August 2026 cutoff.

The rewards are paid in BORG, not euros. Users earning on a stable asset are receiving a token whose value can move, so the effective return depends on how BORG performs over the period.

For Schuman Financial, distribution is the whole game. Every platform that lists EURØP and builds incentives around it widens the token’s reach, and having SwissBorg, eToro and LCX in the founding group gives it several distribution channels from the start.
