Invictus Gaming announces TheShy’s return ahead of LPL Split 3

The legendary top laner reunites with his 2018 World Championship organization after a six-month competitive break

Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok is coming back to Invictus Gaming. The organization confirmed on June 15 that the veteran top laner will rejoin its active roster ahead of the 2026 LPL Split 3, ending a competitive hiatus that began in December 2025.

The reunion roster takes shape

IG’s current lineup features some of the most decorated names in Chinese League of Legends history, including longtime teammate Song “Rookie” Eui-jin, plus Wei, GALA, and Meiko.

Rookie and TheShy were the backbone of IG’s 2018 World Championship title run. TheShy initially came back to IG in late 2024 after time away from the organization. He contributed to the team’s run in the 2024 Demacia Cup before stepping down from competitive play around December 10, 2025. The break lasted roughly six months.

TheShy, born November 11, 1999, is still just 26 years old.

Why this matters for IG and the LPL

LPL Split 3 traditionally runs from mid-July through September. The 2025 edition spanned July 19 to September 21, and the 2026 schedule is expected to follow a similar window. That gives TheShy and his teammates roughly a month to sync up before competitive play begins.

TheShy has had multiple stints with IG over the years, making him synonymous with the organization.
