TRON introduced quantum-resistant signatures on its Nile testnet, marking a step toward strengthening blockchain security against potential quantum computing threats.
TRON had advanced its post-quantum security efforts, including deploying end-to-end post-quantum signature support on the Nile testnet, TRON founder Justin Sun said during a fireside chat with When Shift Happens founder Kevin Follonier.
The crypto entrepreneur said the network is closely following progress in quantum computing and AI and can bring quantum-resistant protections to mainnet at any time.
He added that TRON aims to become one of the few major blockchains to implement quantum resistance before Q-Day, when sufficiently advanced quantum computers could potentially derive private keys from exposed public keys.
TRON’s Nile testnet enabled its first post-quantum signature algorithm, FN-DSA-512, earlier this year, opening the feature to developers for testing, Sun disclosed in July.
TRON plans to upgrade its entire network to quantum-resistant security by the end of 2026, Sun said at Bitcoin Asia 2026 in Hong Kong in August. Sun said the network had spent the previous year developing quantum-resistant mechanisms and released a quantum-resistant address solution in the first half of 2026.
