Trump urges “super intelligence” terminology as White House still uses AI

A September executive order directs agencies to adopt the term but imposes no penalty for using “artificial intelligence.”

President Donald Trump called people using “artificial intelligence” rather than “super intelligence” the enemy in an October 8 Truth Social post, Axios reported.

The White House continues to use AI terminology on its Office of Science and Technology Policy website. On Thursday, AI.gov changed its displayed branding to SI.gov while retaining its existing web address, according to Axios.

A September executive order directs federal agencies to change their terminology and defines super intelligence using the existing federal legal definition of AI. It specifies no penalty for using the older term.

The State Department had already instructed diplomats to adopt the new wording following Trump’s September 22 United Nations speech.

In technology usage, super intelligence describes a hypothetical system exceeding human intelligence. The White House did not respond to Axios’ request for comment.
