Traditional stock markets operate roughly 6.5 hours a day, five days a week. Aerodrome Finance just made that schedule look quaint.
The decentralized exchange, widely considered the dominant DEX on Coinbase’s Base network, launched liquidity pools for tokenized versions of some of the world’s most valuable companies: Nvidia (NVDAc), Meta (METAc), Apple (AAPLc), and Alphabet (GOOGLc). The pools went live over the weekend of August 24-25, and within a single day, they attracted roughly $4.55 million in combined onchain value.
What actually launched and why it matters
Each tokenized equity token is backed 1:1 by actual shares held in regulated custody under Abu Dhabi Global Market’s framework. When someone buys NVDAc on Base, there is a corresponding Nvidia share sitting in a custodial account.
The Nvidia pool proved the most popular of the four, recording approximately $957,000 in liquidity. Traders reportedly observed meaningful price discovery for Nvidia heading into earnings, which is exactly the kind of scenario where 24/7 trading becomes more than a novelty. When material information hits after the closing bell, conventional market participants are left staring at pre-market futures. Onchain equity holders can actually trade.
AERO token and trading volume surge
AERO’s price climbed more than 11% following the announcement, trading near $0.533 as volumes surged to approximately $94.3 million.

The regulatory and technical plumbing
The tokens are built on Coinbase’s B20 standard, a specification designed to handle corporate actions onchain. That means things like stock splits, dividends, and other adjustments can be managed programmatically rather than requiring manual intervention.
These tokens are currently restricted to eligible non-US users. The regulatory framework underpinning them runs through Abu Dhabi, and US securities law remains a minefield for anything that looks like a tokenized stock available to domestic retail investors.
These tokenized equities can potentially be used as collateral on lending protocols like Aave, which also operates on Base, allowing holders to borrow stablecoins against their tokenized equity position without selling the underlying shares.
The $4.55 million in launch-day liquidity is modest compared to what Nvidia trades on Nasdaq in a single minute. But the significance isn’t in the absolute numbers yet. It’s in the proof of concept: real shares, real custody, real-time trading, and immediate integration with the broader DeFi ecosystem.
