A Nasdaq-listed company is about to test whether its stock can live two lives at once.

Canton Strategic Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNTN) plans to offer tokenized versions of its common shares on a permissioned trading venue. Trading is expected to start as soon as November 2, 2026.

The deal and who does what

Canton Strategic Holdings announced the agreement on October 29, 2026. Its partner is TSV LLC, which runs a permissioned venue on the Canton Network.

The arrangement follows what’s called an issuer-sponsored tokenization model. Canton Strategic Holdings itself stands behind the digital version of its stock, rather than leaving an outside party to create tokens on its own.

Fairmint TA LLC handles the record keeping. It is an SEC-registered onchain transfer agent, with filing number 084-06901, and it will issue the tokens and maintain ownership records on the blockchain.

The tokens are set to carry the same rights and privileges as CNTN’s Nasdaq-listed common stock, with a par value of $0.0001.

How trading would actually work

TSV plans to offer continuous trading access, subject to controls.

Settlement will run through the Tradecraft protocol on the Canton Network, using atomic settlement. The concept is all-or-nothing: the payment and the shares swap in a single step, or the trade does not happen.

For now, it remains a plan. No trading has occurred yet, and November 2 is a target date rather than a done deal.

Skipping the 30-day wait

The issuer-sponsored structure brings a practical edge. It allows TSV to bypass the traditional 30-day notice process that other tokenization efforts have to work through.

That shortcut is why the deal could position TSV to potentially record first trades under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption ahead of competitors. The OKX-ICE joint venture is among the rivals it may beat to the starting line.

The timing also lines up with broader developments in market infrastructure. DTCC launched its tokenization service in October 2026, adding a heavyweight piece of traditional financial plumbing to the push toward compliant onchain equities.

What this means for issuers, investors, and rivals

If CNTN’s tokenized shares begin trading as scheduled, they would become a working example of issuer-sponsored tokenization under the Innovation Exemption, and other companies would have a template to study.

The CNTN model’s answer is a token with the same rights as the listed share, recorded by an SEC-registered agent.

For investors, the pitch is access and efficiency. Continuous trading and atomic settlement are features traditional markets do not offer in the same form. Still, a permissioned venue is by design a smaller room than Nasdaq, so the open questions include who gets admitted and how much activity actually shows up.

Competitors face their own pressure. The OKX-ICE joint venture and other tokenization projects that still have to clear the 30-day notice process could see a smaller player claim the “first” headline.

The near-term checkpoint is simple: whether trading actually begins on or around November 2.
