Ondas and Palantir launch Regna AI to build sovereign AI for defense
Ondas will be Regna AI's first customer, using Palantir-powered AI models for autonomous mission orchestration.
Ondas and Palantir Technologies have formed Regna AI to provide mission-specialized AI models that governments, defense organizations and other institutions can operate within their own secure environments, the companies said Monday.
The company, initially wholly owned by Ondas, will be powered by Palantir’s technology and supported by Ondas as it develops sovereign AI capabilities for mission-critical use.
The defense and industrial technology company, which provides autonomous drones, robotic ground systems, counter-drone technology and advanced aircraft for government, defense and commercial customers, will serve as Regna AI’s first customer and deploy fine-tuned models for autonomous mission orchestration on edge systems.
The companies expect to support initial customer deployments over the coming months as demand for sovereign AI grows.
Regna AI will use Palantir’s AIP and open-weight models to deliver AI capabilities that keep mission data and infrastructure under customer control, reducing dependence on externally controlled models and the high costs of developing frontier models from scratch, the companies noted.

Its systems will be designed for deployment on ISR platforms, including drones, stratospheric balloons, ground vehicles and surface vessels, as well as command-and-control nodes.
The models will help operators assess the information and propose mission-plan updates for human review, even in degraded-connectivity environments.
Palantir will provide training infrastructure and engineering support, building on the companies’ existing SkyWeaver C4I collaboration. Regna AI initially targets defense applications before expanding into the security, critical infrastructure and industrial markets.
