OpenAI’s Alexander Embiricos to discuss Dots at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026
The product lead behind OpenAI's always-on AI agents will take the stage days after Dots launched to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium subscribers
OpenAI’s Alexander Embiricos is heading to TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 to talk through Dots, the company’s newly launched always-on personal AI agents, just days after the product made its public debut. The timing is deliberate: Dots launched on September 29, 2026, at OpenAI’s DevDay, and TechCrunch Disrupt runs October 13 through 15 at Moscone West in San Francisco.
Embiricos leads the Dots product and brings some relevant history to the role. He co-founded Multi, a collaboration tool that OpenAI acquired in June 2024.
What Dots actually does
Each Dot runs continuously in the background, operates on its own virtual computer hosted in dedicated cloud infrastructure, and connects to more than 4,000 applications. Users can interact through text, voice, or messaging apps, and the system is designed to proactively help rather than wait to be prompted.
The underlying technology is GPT-6 Astra, which OpenAI is positioning as the engine for this generation of agentic, always-on systems.

Access at launch is limited to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium subscribers. The first Dot comes at no additional cost, and interactions with it do not count against standard usage limits.
The competitive picture
Dots did not arrive into a vacuum. Meta launched Muse, its own always-on agent product, in early September 2026, roughly three weeks before OpenAI’s DevDay announcement.
Sending Embiricos to TechCrunch Disrupt’s AI Stage less than three weeks after launch is a calculated move. The audience at Disrupt skews toward founders, investors, and technical operators.
