SUI enables one-minute prediction markets with DeepBook App launch

DeepBook's new Predict feature lets traders speculate on Bitcoin price moves with expiries as short as 60 seconds, backed by over $20B in cumulative CLOB volume.

The DeepBook App went live in alpha on the Sui mainnet on September 24, bringing with it something the network has been building toward for years: a fully integrated trading interface that combines spot markets, margin, and ultra-short-term prediction markets under one roof.

The headline feature is Predict, which lets traders take speculative positions on Bitcoin price movements with expiry windows as brief as one minute. In a space where most prediction markets deal in days or weeks, DeepBook is compressing the timeline to something that looks more like a turbocharged options desk than a typical DeFi protocol.

What DeepBook actually built

At its core, DeepBook operates a shared on-chain central limit order book, or CLOB. Think of it as the plumbing that connects buyers and sellers directly, rather than routing trades through automated market makers that rely on liquidity pools.

That CLOB has already processed over $20B in cumulative trading volume across more than 15 applications that tap into its shared liquidity layer. The new app gives individual traders a direct interface to that same infrastructure for the first time.

Spot trading launched with pairs including SUI/USDC, xBTC/USDC, and DEEP/USDC, alongside margin capabilities for leveraged positions. But the Predict primitive is what separates this from yet another DEX frontend.

Unlike traditional fixed-strike options, Predict uses continuous strikes and a peer-to-pool model. The system dynamically adjusts pricing through advanced oracles, letting users bet on where Bitcoin will be in as little as 60 seconds from when they open a position.

The feature was first tested on Sui’s testnet back in May 2026 in collaboration with Block Scholes, a crypto derivatives analytics firm. That testing period clearly generated interest: the waitlist for the app’s alpha launch surpassed 150,000 traders.

Speed as a product feature

Sui’s network average finality speed sits at approximately 390 milliseconds, meaning transactions settle in under half a second. For context, that’s roughly 30 times faster than Ethereum’s current finality and fast enough that the bottleneck shifts from blockchain speed to how quickly a trader can click.

The DEEP token plays a central role in the ecosystem, handling trading fee management, user incentives, and governance across the protocol.

The competitive landscape

DeepBook’s approach differs in two key ways from existing prediction market platforms. First, it’s price-based rather than event-based. Traders are speculating on where Bitcoin will be at a specific moment, not whether a particular outcome will occur. Second, the one-minute minimum expiry compresses the speculation window to something that resembles high-frequency trading more than traditional prediction markets.

The continuous strike model adds another layer of differentiation, removing the rigidity that makes traditional options less accessible to retail traders.

The shared liquidity model also matters. Because DeepBook’s CLOB serves as infrastructure for over 15 other applications on Sui, the depth available to Predict traders isn’t isolated to the app itself.

What to watch from here

Bitcoin is the initial asset for Predict, but the team has signaled plans to expand to additional assets over time.

The integration of spot, margin, and prediction markets into a single interface is notable from a product design standpoint. Most DeFi traders currently bounce between multiple protocols to assemble similar functionality.
